The Royal Canadian Mint offers another example of outstanding quality and workmanship in its new coin in the excellent Predator Series. The series that started with the 2016 Cougar and continued with the 2017 Lynx is now following its success by depicting the gray wolf, a fearless and cunning predator, very loyal to the pack. For that third release, the mintage of 300 000 coins means they would be even more valuable than expected.
The obverse of the coin depicts the design of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, along with the face value of 5 CAD. The design is by Susanna Blunt. The image is created in 2003 and represents the fourth generation of design of the Queen’s likeness, which is used for Canadian coins.
The reverse of the coin features canis lupus, gray wolf. Shown while hunting, locked in pursuit of its pray, the wolf is depicted as the strong and majestic animal it actually is. Designed by artist Nathalie Legace, this beautiful image is supplemented by the maple leaf security detail, the words “CANADA” and the fineness of silver.
This coin is poised to become a most sought-after possession, as collectors all over the world cherish the likeness of the wolf, a prominent animal in popular culture and protected local species. Join the pack by getting yours now!
