The China Panda series of gold and silver bullion coins was initially started back in 1982 to mimic the success of other renowned international coins. Unlike other coins with similar concepts, the China Panda coin has the same obverse (with a notable exception in 2002) and a changing reverse side, which makes it even more appealing to collectors.
The obverse of the coin features a Panda in its native habitat, the image of the panda altered for the 2018 version. The Panda is eating a bamboo sprig against the background of a bamboo wall. The obverse also features the denomination of the coin, the weight in grams, the purity of silver and the denomination – 10 Yuan.
The reverse of the coin depicts the same image used for these coins since their introduction in 1982 – Beijing’s Temple of Heaven. This temple is a part of complex religious structures frequently visited by emperors to pray for a good harvest. The image is encircled by “People's Republic of China” in Chinese, including the year of issue – 2018
This coin makes a prized addition to a collection, or a great gift to a loved one. Highly collectable as well, due to the cuteness of the depicted Panda.
