The first release of the coin Wiener Philharmoniker is in 1989. It has been released by the Austrian mint and is struck in two different currencies – from 1989 to 2001 it is released as Austrian shilling, and after 2001 – in Euro. For the years 1992, 1995, 1996 and 2000, the coin Wiener Philharmoniker is the best-selling gold coin in the world. The coin is released in the following sizes – 1 troy ounce, 1/2 troy ounces, 1/4 troy ounces and 1/10 troy ounces, and its design is dedicated to the Wiener Philharmoniker.
The obverse represents a pipe organ, situated in the Golden Concert Hall of The Wiener Philharmoniker. Above it, there is an inscription “Republik Österreich”, and below it, there is an inscription “1 Unze Feinsilber”, year of release 2015 and face value 100 Euro.
The reverse side depicts musical instruments, used in the orchestra – violoncello, violins, clarion, bassoon and harp. Above them, there is an inscription “Wiener Philharmoniker”.
