The fourth in a series of coins depicting the iconic buildings and monuments of Britain
On the front is the latest portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, made by Royal Mint designer Joey Clark and the denomination of 2 pounds.
The reverse design has been created by Royal Mint coin designers Laura Clancy and Glyn Davies. Buckingham Palace with nearly 800 rooms and 40 acres, is one of Britain's most iconic buildings. Originally a townhouse built by the Duke of Buckingham, it was purchased by George III for his wife, Queen Charlotte, in 1761. Queen Victoria will become the first monarch to use Buckingham Palace as an official residence in 1837. Exiting the famous balcony during celebrations for the opening of the Grand Exhibition in 1851, it began a tradition that continues to this day. The coin inscription shows Buckingham Palace, the year 2019, 1 ounce, metal sample - 999 pure silver.
